The team races in regattas around the region, typically in Columbus, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Southern Ohio, and Southern Michigan, and sometimes travels farther. This fall, after seven years away, two Shaker boats return to the Head of the Charles in Boston, the largest three-day regatta in the world!
Transportation is provided for every away regatta. Rowers leave SHHS after school and return the evening of the last race, so plan on your athlete being away for the whole weekend. Attendance at all regattas is mandatory for all rowers: expect a regatta every weekend from mid-September through October and every weekend in April and May. If your rower needs to miss a regatta for a religious holiday, please let Coach X, our head coach, know as soon as possible.
Parents are welcome at every regatta, and we hope you will come. Regattas are a wonderful way to enjoy the sport, cheer on our athletes, and get to know the families who make this community what it is. Each regatta weekend also has a job to match almost any schedule: setting up and packing down the team tent, cooking meals, taking photos, and more. You get to watch the racing up close, and your rower gets to see you there. Families who can't travel can still be part of the day by helping with food prep on our sign-up weekends. We hope to see you on the bank!

September 26: Head of the Cuyahoga, Cleveland, Ohio - Our first and only home regatta!
October 9-11: Heron Henley Challenge and Arctic Classic, Milford, Michigan (leave 10/9, two overnights)
October 16-18: Head of the Charles, Boston, Massachusetts (two Shaker boats; leave 10/15, four overnights)
October 23-25: Blake Haxton and Speakmon Memorial, Upper Arlington, Ohio (leave 10/23, two overnights)
