Rowing is an expensive sport, and this community keeps it open to every Shaker student.
Rowing runs on shared team equipment: boats, oars, trailers, launches and ergs. Although the District is generous in their support, many of these costs are not covered by the school or by our family registration fees, so SHHS Crew depends on fundraising to maintain and upgrade the fleet and to lower the cost of rowing for every athlete.
Shaker on the Charles
After seven years away, Shaker Crew returns to the Head of the Charles in Boston. Our women's youth coxed four (4+) and men's youth eight (8+) race Sunday, October 18. Gifts go first to scholarships, so every athlete selected for the trip can go, and then to equipment upgrades that sustain the program. The campaign is open through Wednesday, October 21.
The Erg-A-Thon
Our largest fundraiser of the year takes place each spring, when our athletes row on indoor machines (ergs) for pledges. Last spring, 154 supporters gave $13,120. Thank you to every family, alum, and friend who made it happen.
